Creating a custom paint scheme for your tree is an interesting way to show off your house or home. You can do either neutral or bold, traditional or modern. There are also varying degrees of life-like and whimsical.
This article will go over how to paint the blossoms on your tree in acrylic, which is the main medium used for creating the looks listed in this article. It is also possible to design patterns in it, which adds another level of complexity.
Acrylic paint is a relatively new addition to the painting world, having been available for only the last few years. Though it was already popularly used for paintings on glass, it took some time for it to be accepted as a legitimate painting medium.
Choose your paint
When painting cherries, you have two main options for paint. You can use permanent markers or crayons. Both methods require some preparation to ensure your cherry is covered all over.
Choose your brushes
When painting blossom patterns, it is important to choose the right brush for the job. There are many different brands of makeup pencils and brushes, so this is not an easy lesson to take on every new project!
There are two types of brushes you can use for painting blossom shapes: dip pens or paintbrushes. Most dip pens or paintbrushes have a round tip. If you have a square tip, buy a different product.
The length of the round tip must be longer than the short round nose of the bloom. The longer length of paint can get trapped on the brush when painting, making only one side show up.
To fix this problem, place the brush face down and trace around the circle with your finger.
Create basic shapes
When painting cherries, your first task is to create some shape. Creating a simple shape can be difficult if you are not aware of it.
Cherries are a recurring color in many contexts, so it is not impossible to limit your cherry painted areas to just one color. You can, in fact, paint all of your nails white, all of your hair dark brown, and the cheeks pink!
Like most painting processes, starting with a bit of a blank face and adding colorsgradually is the best way to create some shape. You can also use Steady Hand or alcohol-based primers to help hold onto those colors.
To prevent erasing or transferring of the paint onto other surfaces, use good quality tape or glue to secure the cherry piece to the canvas.
Paint the petals
When painting the blossoms, your first step is to determine how much paint you will need to use. You will need to measure your paper before painting!
Acrylic paint is a very thin liquid. That liquid must be spread evenly over the paper to create your blossom. Therefore, when painting, make sure you have enough paint to cover your paper completely.
To get the full effect of the color, use more paint. Try using a half cup of paint for an entire canvas of blossom. Or use one drop for every section painted.
Add color to the leaves
When painting the cherry blossoms, you have two main options for color: add some leafFX to the leaves and use some vibrant colors to highlight them
Both approaches are valid and beautiful! In this case, we will use some bright green leaves to emphasize the blossoms.
You can do this either by painting some directly on top of the acrylic, or by adding them as a layer. When painting the latter, it is important to keep your surface even and smooth.
Either way, do not be too ambitious with the colors. You want these flowers to look soft and gentle, right? We want our students to take pictures of this so they can tell how well they paint!
Once they are done, let them dry immediately.
Add shadows and highlights
Adding shadows and highlights is one of the most important things you can do in painting cherries blossom acrylic. When you do this, your painting become much more interesting and sophisticated.
Cherry blossoms are a very intricate flower to paint. It requires very detailed work and a good eye for placement. Luckily, there are many tutorials that show you how to do it!
One of the best ways to add leafage to your cherry blossoms is by adding shadowed spots on your leaves. The same goes for spots of lightening around the flowers. These areas look nice paired with a soft, gentle color scheme.
When painting these areas, it is important to keep in mind where the light and dark are.
Finish painting the tree trunk
Once you have painted the tree, it is time to finish painting the leaves. You can do this in several ways, but we will focus on how to do it in the same paint package!
Many companies now offer their products as mixed media kits. These include a painting surface, brushes, and other products needed to complete the project. You can buy these at your local university art school or online here.
You do not need special skills to complete this project. You just need to take your time to paint! Once finished, carefully sweep under the tree looking for some happy cherries!
If you are having difficulty with one section of the project, take a break and work on another part of the tree.
Paint the sky and water
Once you have painted the tree, the easiest thing to do is paint some sky and some water. You can do bothgrass, either way!
To paint the water, you need four main sources of color. These are the green leaves, the white froth at the top of the cherry Blossom Tree, and two shades of browns: richly-colored brick and bright aqua.
To paint the sky, start with a soft-toned gray with some light brown highlights and then add more color as you go. Like painting a picture using just crayons or just painting with brushes.
